2013 Public Health and Climate Change Summit: Focusing North Carolina Forward

October 29-30, 2013

North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (121 West Jones Street)

Nature Research Center Environmental Conference Center (4th Floor)

Raleigh, NC 27603

North Carolina’s diverse geography, climate, and population mean that our state will be uniquely impacted by climate change. Understanding trends in climate impacts, North Carolina’s vulnerabilities to these impacts, as well as public perceptions of climate change and key motivators of action, is key to applying the state’s wealth of scientific, technological, cultural, and public health expertise to providing meaningful recommendations for minimizing these impacts. Through these actions, North Carolina may be poised to become a national leader in developing adaptation, mitigation, and public policies that will protect and improve the health of our state and its people in the next decade and beyond. In the process, other states across the United States will benefit from the work taking place in North Carolina.
